House Handbook

Welcome! πŸ‘‹

Dear exchange partners,

welcome to our home! We’re so happy you’ve chosen to stay here, and we hope you’ll feel just as comfortable as we do.

In this little handbook, we’ve put together everything you need to know for your stay – from how to use the household appliances to our favourite spots in the area.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

We wish you a wonderful time 🏑

General

  • Please don’t wear street shoes inside the house. In the basement and the entrance/cloakroom area, that’s of course no problem.
  • Please water the plants 🌻 in the garden depending on the weather. Best in the morning or evening. You can use water from the rain barrel or the garden hose.

Garden

  • The upper garden area with the continuous lawn is a shared space with the neighbours. You can use the full area and the slide. Don’t be surprised if the neighbours’ children use the swing on “your” side too.
  • If you’d like to use the barbecue, you need to turn on the gas bottle first.
  • In the red shed there is a large and a small paddling pool that you’re welcome to use.

Laundry

  • A washing machine and dryer are available in the basement.
  • You’ll find detergent on the shelf to the right of the washing machine.
  • There are also several drying racks in the boiler room that you’re welcome to use.

Bicycles

  • There are five bicycles you’re welcome to use. They’re in the bike shed to the right of the house.
  • Please don’t use the bicycles in the basement.
  • When you park the bicycles, they must be locked to a fixed object. Locks are attached to the bikes.
  • The cargo bike battery can be charged in the shed. There are two batteries. To swap them, the empty battery can be removed using the same key that fits the lock.

Public Transport

  • If you’d like to get around Hamburg by public transport, use the HVV journey planner at hvv.de. It’s worth installing the HVV app on your phone. You can buy tickets and quickly find connections with the app.
  • You can use the bus stops ‘Neuer Friedhof’ up on Bremer Straße or ‘Rabenstein’ down on Marmstorfer Weg. From there, buses go to Harburg city centre with connections to the S-Bahn towards Hamburg.
  • If you don’t feel like taking the bus but also don’t want to drive into Hamburg, you can use the Park & Ride car park in Harburg and conveniently switch to the S-Bahn there. Parking costs €2 for 24h at the machine on site. β†’ Map
